Bounce Back Strong: Sharing Session for Job Interview Tips and Resilience Skills

重新出發: 求職面試技巧和應變能力分享會

Hong Kong Momtrepreneurs is supporting EmpowerHER project to bring more women back to work. This project is initiated by a group of university aged young women wanting to support women who face challenges of employment due to covid and many other challenges.

1. Hang Lung Future Women Leaders Program

Hung Lung Future Women Leaders Program aims to provide mentoring and leadership training for female college students to enhance their potential and strengths and promote diversity. In 2022-23, as the first phase of the national project covering Hong Kong and Shanghai, there are shortlisted 200 female college students from different backgrounds, with 40 elite women from different fields invited as mentors, to establish an online Shanghai-Hong Kong dialogue for future female leaders, and provide an opportunity for initiating a community or sustainable development project practice.

2. EmpowerHer Team and Aspiration

We, Hailey LIU (HKUST), Jenny CHOW (HKUST), Samantha YUEN (HKU), Yvonne WEN (CUHK & Tsinghua), as female university students, are invited to lead, plan and execute a sustainable project to positively impact the community. We recognize that gender stereotypes contribute to unequal gender treatment in Hong Kong, which demands more social efforts to reduce and address the issue. Hence, we initiate a project to promote gender equality, by providing unemployed women with the sharing of mentality adjustment, psychological overcoming, and enhancement of interview skills, thereby achieving the goal of empowering women and making audiences better prepared to return to work.

Sharing the same vision of SDG 10 Reducing Inequality, we are passionate about building this diverse team and collaborating to reach out to different parties, to explore and launch this project that aims to advance gender equality by providing recruitment assistance to temporarily unemployed women.

Hailey LIU (LinkedIn: Hailey Liu)

Being a third-year student majoring in Environmental Management and Technology and minoring in business at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, I have been actively joining sustainability-related case competitions and working on volunteering projects. I am passionate about combating climate change and supporting the transition to sustainability. I look forward to initiating this ”EmpowerHer” project to further continue my volunteering and enthusiasm for sustainable development. As a female college student, I hope to contribute to empowering more women and creating a better future and world.

Jenny CHOW (LinkedIn: Jenny Chow)

I am a penultimate student at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. I am majoring in Economics and Finance and minoring in Sustainability. As a business student, I have interned at Deloitte, BNP Paribas, Welkin Capital Management, and the Bank of China. After trying different internships, I found my passion in ESG and sustainable finance because I would like to create social impacts on top of my job and ESG is a perfect fit for that. I also won the Champion of the BA paper 2023 under the theme of “Future Green Leaders” and was selected as one of the participants of Hang Lung Future Women Leaders Program to initiate “EmpowerHer”. Other than studies, I have also been involved in different voluntary works and social projects. For example, I was a member of 180 Degrees Consulting and worked on social consulting projects for Red Cross Foundation, Hong Kong Lutheran Social Service, and HKUST Sustainability Office. I am passionate and dedicated to creating bigger social impacts for the next generations and feel free to reach out to me if you share the same passion.

Samantha YUEN (LinkedIn: Samantha Yuen)

As a final year student majoring in Accounting and Finance at the University of Hong Kong, my passion and persistence in women empowerment goes hand-in-hand with my experience and I believe this is where I can better contribute to a strengthened community. It is also my strong belief that women have an enormous role to play in shaping a better world, and I am committed to being a part of this change.

Last summer, I had the opportunity to become a gender equality podcaster, which allowed me to further explore this enthusiasm and advocate for gender equality. It was an eye-opening experience that made me realize that speaking up for gender equality is crucial, and that women have the ability to become future leaders of the world.

I am thrilled to be selected as part of the Hang Lung Future Women Leaders Program, which is instrumental in my personal and professional growth. As a section of the program, my teammates and I launched this EmpowerHer Sustainability Project, aiming to provide women with the tools and resources they need to triumph in their career paths. Through the project, I hope to inspire more women to realize their potential and become leaders in their own right. By that, we can create a more equitable and just society where everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed.

Yvonne WEN (LinkedIn: Yiran Yvonne Wen

I am a freshman studying Economics at CUHK-Tsinghua University Dual Degree Undergraduate Degree Programme at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Witnessing many women unable to be financially independent just because they have contributed so much to their families, I feel the urge to help and create a platform for them to better access job information. I understand that what these women lack may be just a little boost in confidence or some insights for the job application process. Therefore, I am excited to join the Hang Lung Future Women Leaders Program to meet my group mates who share the same vision for women’s empowerment, and to initiate this project together, providing resources where women can connect with experienced experts and gain access to the latest market trends and insights job market, developing job application tips and skills to overcome psychological barriers, which will hopefully help them rejoin the workforce.
